The lexico-phraseological profile of professional film reviews published by the British media: A corpus-linguistic study

Using corpus linguistic techniques, this exploratory study is intended to provide a descriptive in-sight into frequent lexical bundles, keywords and key terms as well selected markers of style used in professional film reviews. The research material includes 210 domain-specific texts from the years 2020-2021, extracted websites six British newspapers, magazines institutions offering guides for moviegoers. results show that analyzed reviews make use general cinematic more specific lexis denoting different types (sub)genres productions repre-sented by reviewed films. Other salient features include high concentration referential but low stance though attitudinal items, particularly evaluation adjectives, signifi-cantly enrich inventory presented data may have important pedagogic appli-cations area teaching authentic English future reviewers journalists.
